Alison Krauss is a 40 year old American Jazz singer from Decatur, Illinois and Alison began studying the violin aged five but soon swutched to bluegrass which is an Amrican type of fiddle. Alison entered many talent competiton in her youth and formed her first band aged 13 and won the Walnut Valley Festival Fiddle Championship. Alison has written and recorded many albums and the first in 1985 Different Strokes produced independently and later Alsion signed to Rounder Records and released her debut album Too Late to Cry with Union Station as her backup band.

Alison commonly performs in the bluegrass and country genres, though she has had two songs on the adult contemporary charts, Alison has worked with many music stars including Phish and Sting and is sometimes said to stray into pop music.
