London Sights using the Tube

London has the oldest and one of the most extensive Tube networks in the world (second to Shanghai in China) which opened in 1863 and is synonymous throughout the world as the symbol of London. Many of these lines have been upgraded for the London Olympics in 2012.
I made a trip to London this week with my wife and 2 young children to show them the main sites of London, so I decided to spend 2 days and one night. We left our apartment nice and early on a Friday morning and bought a day saver ticket which allows you to travel throughout the 4 tube zones for the next 24 hours; we were staying near London Bridge tube station. We walked over London Bridge to Borough Market which has wonderful fresh produce on a daily basis, I and the family had homemade broth so we would have lots of energy throughout the day, and we even had some big door steps of bread to dip into the broth. We then decided to hit the tourist trail so went on the Northern, Central and Piccadilly lines to get to Covent Garden. Covent Garden is one of my favourite places in London where you can see the wonderfully re-generated Royal Opera House and Theatre Royal Drury Lane, there is Covent Garden Square which has plenty of street performers to and I saw an amusing chap on a large penny farthing bicycle in period suit. We then jumped back on the tube 1 stop down to Leicester square the scene of many film premieres and Hollywood A listers, we stopped for lunch in a very tasty Mexican restaurant and then went to a very luxurious Ice Cream Parlour for something sweet and we have completed a very interesting trip to Leicester Square.
We decided to walk the whole length of Regent Street past all the fantastic designer clothes stores until we reached Piccadilly Circus and the busiest shopping street in Europe Oxford Street. We walk down Oxford Street towards Marble Arch as the children wanted to visit Hyde Park I also wanted to visit a high performance sports car showroom opposite the road to feel the dream of being a Formula 1 sports driver. After the sports car showroom and Hyde Park we decided head back to London Bridge a different route via the District Line and change at Monument then 2 stop to London Bridge. We as a family love to travel the London tube network as it is cheap and easy to navigate the wonderful city that is London.
