Claire Sweeney of former Brookside fame will be taking on the role as Betty Haynes. Claire has appeared in many stage shows since leaving Brookside, including ‘Guys and Dolls’ with Patrick Swayze, Legally Blonde and Educating Rita. She will be joined by Corrie star, Wendi Peters, who played Cilla Battersby-Brown in the soap for 4 years. Wendi has also had a successful stage career, performing in ‘The Game’, ‘The Scarlet Pimpernel’ and ‘Guys and Dolls’. Another former Corrie resident in the form of Steven Houghton will be playing Bob Wallace. Steven has had extensive stage experience, having had parts in ‘Blood Brothers’, ‘Grease’ and ‘Spend, Spend, Spend’ for which he was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award. Completing the line up of major characters is Dallas star, Ken Kercheval. Ken’s character, Cliff Barnes, was the only character to appear in the series throughout its entire run. He has performed the role of General Waverly in many cities including Edinburgh, Portsmouth, Cardiff and Southampton.
