There are lots of things to do in London, but there’s only one chance a year to peak behind the walls of some of our most iconic buildings. From Battersea Power Station, to The Shard, The Gherkin and the Olympic Park; Open House London 2013 will escort you into the heart of the capital’s architecture, guided by the architects and engineers who built the spaces we recognise as home.

Over 800 buildings will open their doors from the 21st – 22nd September, inviting visitors to explore their interiors for free in a celebration of “architecture, people and place”. Tours will be given by over 1600 architects, granting you access to their expertise and in some cases even their studios!

To add to the excitement, this year will feature an Open Debate, hosted at the Landscape Institute, which asks “Is London Building a Sterile City?”. This is an unmissable chance to learn about the expert opinions, theories and practices which are shaping modern urban centres. If that wasn’t enough, on Friday 20th Maggie’s & Open London will lead a moonlit Culture Crawl through the city’s streets to raise money for charity and showcase a selection of our star buildings.

At Serviced City Pads we are fascinated by our own part in the changing the environment of British cities. It might seem small, but we’ve witnessed you choose apartments over hotels as travellers push for greater comfort, convenience and cost savings. We’ve watched as new apartment buildings have been built to welcome Olympic guests, globetrotting entrepreneurs, touring families and festive party-goers out for a weekend of fun. We’ve seen apartments claim disused spaces, bringing new life to listed buildings through careful renovation, and watched as developing areas have benefited from the economic investment of our industry.

So book yourself a stay in one of our serviced London apartments this September and celebrate our rich architecture with a trip around some of the city’s most interesting structures. Look out for the full guide to the Open House London event, which will be available online from mid-August.

Give Serviced City Pads a call or email us today to talk about your next trip, we’re always happy to help find you the ideal London apartment for your stay.
