Halifax is Calderdale’s largest town and is surrounded by the lush, rolling hills of West Yorkshire. As a former centre of woollen manufacture from the 15th century onward, Halifax boasts stunning Victorian architecture and a strong industrial heritage. The town is home to Piece Hall, Eureka! The National Children’s Museum, and Halifax Minster, as well as an excellent selection of high-street and independent shops, theatres, and restaurants and bars. The bank, Halifax plc, is a significant employer, and the town has strong associations with confectionery.
