This autumn, a musical based on one of Hollywood’s best loved films, ‘The Bodyguard’ will premiere in London’s West End. The 1992 film starred Whitney Houston in her first ever acting role in which she played a superstar who is receiving death threats from an unknown stalker. Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank (played by Kevin Costner) is hired to protect her. The soundtrack, including such hits as ‘I Have Nothing’, ‘Queen of the Night’ and of course, the outstanding, ‘I Will Always Love You’, became the best selling movie soundtrack of all time.
The West End version will be running from 6th November until the 27th April 2013 at the Adelphi Theatre and stars Heather Headley and Lloyd Owen in Houston and Costner’s roles respectively. The romantic thriller was a smash hit on the big screen and is sure to be just as charming and emotional on the stage. Expect lots of drama, belting ballads and electricity.
