The Eastern Docklands, referring to the name of the property, were constructed in the late nineteenth century to allow increasing trade with the Dutch East Indies. The neighbourhood consists for 2/3 out of water and for 1/3 of land and consists of four artificial peninsulas, all of which were former industrial and harbour locations. In the beginning of this century, after a reorganization, the Eastern Docklands became a home to 17,000 people.

Nowadays the Eastern Docklands are an area with lots of art galleries, local shops, trendy restaurants and amazing architecture.

Go to the National Maritime Museum and learn about the history of Amsterdam, enjoy a walk in the botanical gardens of Hortus Botanicus or visit the city zoo Artis. Wander through Amsterdam East to find the best restaurants and bars, we're sure you'll enjoy it!
