Forthcoming music tours visiting Manchester

The fourth quarter of the year is always the busiest part of the year for touring bands and 2009 is proving to be no different to previous years. Manchester is one of the music, whether thpitals of the UK and most bands that are tour the country visit Manchester as part of their tour. One of the main reasons for this (apart from the size and musical heritage of the city of Manchester) is the range of live music venues that exist across Manchester. Some of the venues in Manchester are the MEN Arena, Ritz Ballroom, Manchester Arena and The Apollo. All of these venues offer varying experiences in terms of the size, acoustics and architecture. Probably the most obvious difference is the venue capacity which means that an actg like Beyonce can play the MEN arena (18th November), whilst Modest Mouse (who include former Smith Johnny Marr amongst their numbers) play the Ritz (13th December) – a fantastic older venue that is situated around the corner from Manchester Oxford Road train station. Another venue that is only used occasionally is Manchester Central (formerly G-Mex). This fantastic venue is now used more for conferences in Manchester, although it became famous in the early 1990’s when bands such as James and Happy Mondays played there at the hight of the Madchester boom. Local band Doves play at Manchester Central on 18th December, which proves to be a terrific pre Christmas gig in Manchester. Another local band, former Mercury music winners who have gone from strength to strength in terms of their public recognition over the last 18 months , is Elbow who will play a massive homecoming show at the MEN arena on Friday 18th September. All in all a busy time for the Manchester music scene.
