Hyde Park Winter Wonderland London

Christmas is just around the corner again and from mid-November to early January a part of Hyde Park close to Hyde Park Corner is turned into a Winter Wonderland for the benefit of London’s younger visitors. In order to meet phenomenal demand and bring new and exciting attractions to the event, it has just been announced that Hyde Park Winter Wonderland will be extended to an enormous 20 acres.

As well as the phenomenally popular Ice Skating Rink, 95.8 Capital FM’s Giant Wheel and ever growing German Christmas Market, for 2009, families can enjoy Zippo’s Christmas Circus in its very own heated big-top with a 45 minute show especially created for Winter Wonderland. Older visitors can witness an hour long illusion show at 7pm when the Big Top will be transformed into the Palace of Grand Illusion. All of these attractions are booking now!

Other fantastic new attractions, never before seen in the UK include the Power Tower, a 66m drop ride (not advised for those with a fear of heights!), a massive new Christmas Rollercoaster, the Black Hole ride – which twists and turns at breakneck speed in the pitch dark, a dinosaur-inspired Ice Monster which is experienced from the inside out, a Xmas Pirates Adventure and much, much more..

In addition for 2009, our free Father Christmas now resides in his very own Santa Land circled by the popular Santa Land Express and containing lots of rides & games for the little ones.

Winter Wonderland’s Father Christmas was voted ‘Best Outdoor Experience’ by Time Out London. He and his entertaining elves welcome children to his Hyde Park grotto every day from 12 noon to 6pm, and 4pm on Christmas Eve – from Boxing Day onwards he takes well earned rest! There is no charge to meet Santa, and he receives kids of all ages on a ‘first-come first-served basis’, treating children who have been very, very good to a special gift.

Visitors are welcome to take their own photographs with Santa; however an official Winter Wonderland photographer will be on hand to take special souvenir shots available for purchase on the day.
