The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic stars Marina, Willem Defoe, Robert Wilson and Anthony and tests the relationship between performer and audience where Marina profiles her life for then audience, from her early years growing up in Serbia . Marina great Uncle was Patriarch Varnava of the Serbian Orthodox Church, her parents were partisans during the second world war, her father Vojo was a commander in the army and proclaimed a hero after the war, her mother a major and also went on to be the Director of the Museum of the Revolution and Art in Belgrade. Marina profiles her childhood and her relationship with her parents and the music that was popular at this time within Serbia. Serviced City Pads.

The play draws on experiences from her past works, Marina tests the relationship between performer and audience, she plays a passive role in the stage play however ask’s other performers and the audience to look at 72 objects and feedback what objects give them pleasure, what objects could inflict pain or harm them. These objects include a rose, a feather, honey, a whip, scissors, a scapel, a gun and a single bullet. The actors and audience spend hours discussing and understanding what these pieces mean to them. Marina in the past has taken her art to another level in Rythm in 1974 where she took prescribed pills for muscles issues and depression. Once these tablets had been taken Marina take on a different level to the suprise of the audience and her body can react violently and caused the distress to the audience.
