Serviced Apartments in London for World Badminton Championships.

For visitors to the 2011 World Badminton Championships in London, a serviced apartment is a great option for staying in the capital for badminton enthusiasts of all types.

The 2011 World Championships take place in London for the first time at the Wembley Arena. The tournament will be played 8th – 14th August and promises as ever to be a week of fast-paced, net-busting, shuttle-whacking action. The competition has 5 different events, similar to tennis; men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s and women’s double and mixed doubles. The winners of those 5 categories can enjoy, until the next tournament anyway, the proud title of ‘World Champion.’ So much is at stake!

The first badminton World Championships took place in 1977 and were originally held every two years. Since 2003 the Championships been held annually (except for Olympic years, where the winner of the Olympic title is considered the ‘world champion’ in all but name.) The championships have taken place twice before in England, both times in Birmingham in 1993 and 2003, so this is the first time it will be held in London in the 12,500 capacity Wembley Arena. This will also be seen my many as a dress rehearsal for the 2012 Olympics when the badminton tournament there will take place in the same venue. The championships will see around four hundred of the world’s top players representing five continents competing for the title of World Champion.

If you’re travelling to London to watch the Championships, be sure to have a look at some London serviced apartment options when look for your London accommodation. Great for groups and families, serviced apartments provide a larger space than an equivalent hotel in London. With prices that are very decent when again compared to similar hotels, there should be no reason why everyone shouldn’t have a look a serviced apartment options when looking for their London accommodation. Unfortunately there are no serviced apartment to my knowledge that come with their own badminton court facilities, but at least you can relax in style when you’re down in London for the 2011 World Badminton Championships, kicking back in your London serviced apartment.
