Serviced apartments in Southampton for Rhod Gilbert performance
Welsh comedian, Rhod Gilbert, will be performing in Southampton’s Guildhall on Monday 3rd December 2012. Rhod has become a familiar face on TV over the past few years, appearing on shows including ‘Mock the Week’, ‘8 Out Of 10 Cats’ and ‘Have I Got News for You’. Although a favourite on comedy panel shows, he is also well known for his stand up comedy and has performed on both ‘Live at the Apollo’ and headlined an episode of ‘Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’. This tour will be Rhod’s 6th and is interestingly named, ‘The Man with the Flaming Battenburg Tattoo’.
Rhod first got into professional comedy in 2002 and within two years had already won several UK talent competitions and been nominated for the Perrier ‘Best Newcomer Award’ for his first Edinburgh Fringe show, ‘1984’ in 2005. He also won a Chortle award in the same year. Rhod’s comedic style is very different from most other comedians of the moment- his shows are angry and furious with plenty of shouting and growling. His description of the time when his luggage was destroyed on a flight is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in comedy in a long time and he reels it off in a raspy-voiced, almost deranged rant but with surprising charisma and likeability. He has the uncanny ability to take something small and inconsequential that everyone can relate to and turn it into a rant of epic proportions that leave his audience falling off their chairs with laughter. His newest tour does not disappoint as he tells of his ‘relationship rut’ with his girlfriend and frequently refers to his anger management diary.
