South Pacific the Musical at the Mayflower, Southampton
If you’re wondering which classic theatre production to go and see on the South Coast in the early part of 2012, then you will struggle to find anything better than the breathtaking and lavish South Pacific. The show will be playing from 17th January to 4th February at the Mayflower Theatre in the centre of Southampton. For those travelling to the city, it would be well worth getting some Southampton accommodation to really enjoy what there is to offer.
South Pacific is a Lincoln Centre Theatre production which reinvents Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s classic. For the last few years the show has enchanted audiences on Broadway and London’s West End, selling out venues and receiving huge critical acclaim. With a full live orchestra of over 49, the production will be arriving in Southampton at the Mayflower for a strictly limited time, so make sure you make the most of it while it’s showing in town. It’s directed by Bartlett Sher, a winner of the Tony Award for Best Director and the play features a very strong cast, including Matthew Cammelle, Samantha Womack, Alex Ferns and Daniel Koek. To some it is considered one of the best musicals ever written, with classic tunes such as Some Enchanted Evening, I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair and There Is Nothin’ Like a Dame.
If that has whet your appetite, then get yourself down to Southampton and book some tickets for at the Mayflower. If you are travelling down and are looking for somewhere to stay in Southampton, then instead of looking to book the usual hotel options, why not try looking at some Southampton serviced apartments? With a serviced apartment you get much space than the 4 walls of a hotel room and the flexibility of having your own kitchen to use. No longer will you be stuck with expensive restaurants or often questionable hotel food!
