Visit Glasgow for the Doors Open Day 2011

Today’s Serviced City Pads blog is to draw your attention to Glasgow’s annual “Doors Open Day” which will be taking place on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September 2011 (which is actually two days, but never mind). This event is free, and is a chance for people to see some of the finest buildings that Glasgow has to offer. As the official site says, this event will have “walks, talks, seminars, and exhibitions in addition to more than 100 buildings being open to visitors”.

Doors Open Day was the idea of the Glasgow Building Preservation Trust, and has steadily grown since the first event in 1990. There is now a whole week of events in the lead-up to the weekend of Doors being Open where you can immerse yourself in Glasgow’s history.

You can visit a wide variety of buildings throughout the city from courts, cinemas, colleges, and commercial buildings. Also, the organisers have added Open Gates to the locations on offer – there are now a number of allotments and gardens that can also be visited.
