Liverpool is also staging one of the largest Christmas markets in the country in 2010, the market, the largest ever held in the city, is expected to attract around 100 stalls with traders throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, Australia and Oceania, as well as local traders selling everything from traditional Finnish toys and chocolate from Germany to English Bone China, Swedish handbags and Chinese wooden dolls. It will run from Nov 25 to 21 December and be based throughout the city centre. A local council spokesman said, ‘ Shoppers have shown that they want a high-quality market at Christmas and that’s what we are going to have in Liverpool in 2010 that will rival any in other cities’. The market has also driven an increase in visitor numbers giving a boost to the local economy of just over 10%. On top of the market there will also be activities for the festive season with an ice rink, cararousel, real reindeers and street entertainment all making it a Christmas to remember.
